Samples and Results Information

If you have had a test such as a blood test or a smear test, the doctor or nurse will advise you when the result is likely to be available.  Please do check up on the result yourself; you can leave a telephone  message at reception.  The best time to call is late morning or early afternoon. The doctor may contact you directly or will leave a message with the receptionist which may be that:

  • the result is normal and no action needs to be taken
  • you may need to collect a prescription
  • you may need to make an appointment to discuss the result with you.

Confidentiality

You must contact us personally for test results as we cannot give information about you to relatives or friends without your written permission.

It helps us if you:
  • Please bring samples to the surgery before 11am to ensure they reach the laboratory on the same day
  • Telephone the surgery after 2.00pm for test results as the telephones are less busy at this time of the day and we have staff available who will be able to help you with your query
