Home Visit Requests

Requests for visits are assessed by the doctor on medical grounds.

The vast majority of patients can attend the surgery, where facilities are available for proper examination and investigation.

Lack of transport is not in itself a reason for a visit.

We would expect patients to arrange to attend in most circumstances.

Unwell children should be brought to the surgery and can be seen quickly; to keep waiting to a minimum if you should inform the receptionist on arrival.

If you are too ill to come to the surgery, please ring BEFORE 11.00am to request a visit for later that day, clearly stating your address and any geographical difficulties.  You will probably be called by a doctor to assess your needs if you request a home visit.

Sometimes, alternatives to a visit will be offered such as a telephone assessment, advice or occasionally an immediate referral to hospital .

Please note: a doctor can see four or five patients in the surgery for every one visited at home.
